Privacy Policy

Effective October 10, 2026

How I handle your information

This Privacy Policy explains what information The Perennial Kitchen (theperennialkitchen.com) collects, how I use it, and the choices you have. I’m Erin, and I run this site myself, so when this policy says “I,” it means me.

The short version: I collect only what I need to run this site and send the emails you sign up for. I never sell or rent your information. You can unsubscribe, or ask me to delete your information, at any time.

Information I collect

Information you give me

  • Email signup. When you join my email list, I collect your email address and anything else the form asks for, such as your first name.
  • Emails you send me. If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
  • Comments. If you leave a comment, I collect the name, email address, and website (optional) you enter, along with your comment, your IP address, and your browser information to help catch spam. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this site’s hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. This is used to keep the site secure and running well. The site also uses cookies, described below.

How I use your information

  • To send you the emails you signed up for
  • To reply to your messages and questions
  • To display and moderate comments
  • To keep the site secure, prevent spam, and fix problems
  • To understand what readers find helpful so I can make better recipes and content

I don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

Email newsletter

My email list is managed by Kit (formerly ConvertKit), which stores your email address and signup details on my behalf. Kit may record whether you open my emails and which links you click, which helps me understand what’s useful. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can leave the list at any time. You can read Kit’s privacy policy for more detail.

The signup form uses Google reCAPTCHA to block spam sign-ups. reCAPTCHA collects information about your device and browser, and its use is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Services that help run this site

I use a few trusted services to run this site. When you visit, some of them may receive information such as your IP address or set their own cookies. Each one has its own privacy policy.

  • SiteGround hosts the site and provides security and speed tools. SiteGround privacy policy
  • Kit manages the email list (see above). Kit privacy policy
  • Google reCAPTCHA protects the signup form from spam. Google privacy policy
  • Google Fonts provides the fonts you see on this site. Your browser connects to Google to load them. Google privacy policy
  • Gravatar shows profile pictures next to comments. A scrambled version of your email address (called a hash) may be sent to Gravatar to check whether you have a profile. Automattic privacy policy
  • Pinterest powers the “Save” buttons that let you pin recipes. Pinterest may receive information about your visit. Pinterest privacy policy
  • Instagram (owned by Meta) is where I share recipes and kitchen updates. Some pages may show my recent Instagram posts; when they do, your browser may connect to Instagram to load them. Instagram privacy policy

If I add other services in the future, such as website analytics or advertising, I’ll update this policy before I do.

Cookies

Cookies are small files your browser stores to remember information. This site uses:

  • Comment cookies. If you choose to, your name, email, and website can be saved so you don’t have to retype them next time. These last one year.
  • Login cookies. These are used only by people who manage the site.
  • Third-party cookies from the services listed above.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some features, like remembering your comment details, may not work without them.

Do Not Track signals

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there’s no common standard for how websites should respond, this site doesn’t currently change its behavior when it receives one. The services listed above may handle these signals differently.

Embedded content

Some posts may include embedded content from other websites, such as videos or social media posts. Embedded content behaves the same way as if you visited that website directly, and that site may collect information about you. Likewise, if you follow, message, or interact with me on social media, such as Instagram or Pinterest, that platform’s own privacy policy applies.

Health information

This site doesn’t ask for or collect health information. Please don’t include sensitive health details in comments, since comments are public. If you choose to share something about your health in an email to me, I’ll use it only to reply to you, and you can ask me to delete it.

How long I keep your information

  • Email list: until you unsubscribe. After that, I may keep a record of your email address marked as unsubscribed so you aren’t accidentally added again.
  • Emails you send me: as long as needed to respond and keep a reasonable record, unless you ask me to delete them.
  • Comments: kept with the post unless you ask me to remove them.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from my emails at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. You can also contact me using the button at the bottom of this page to ask what information I have about you, or to correct or delete it. I’ll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, such as the EU, the UK, or certain U.S. states, you may have additional privacy rights, and I’ll honor reasonable requests no matter where you live.

Children’s privacy

This site is meant for adults and isn’t directed to children under 13. I don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given me their information, please contact me and I’ll delete it.

Keeping your information safe

I use reputable service providers and reasonable security measures to protect your information. No website or online service is completely secure, though, so I can’t guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy as the site grows. When I do, I’ll change the effective date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, I’ll make it clear on the site or by email.
